Connecting: A Documentary On UX, UI and Interaction Design

Connecting (Full Film) from Bassett & Partners on Vimeo.

I came across Connecting last week when researching UI / UX trends for 2013 and can’t get it off my mind. The 18 minute trailer created by Microsoft features some of tech and design’s brightest explaining how technology, design, and our interaction with both has been and will continue to evolve into some really neat and unexpected ways for society.

The capabilities of technological advances and the way it can impact society is most likely greater than you’ve (we’ve) ever considered. New software and devices come with many positives, but can quickly turn into a negative if we aren’t considerate of how connected our world is through technology. We are at a time now where the importance and fusion between business, technology and design can try and aid in creating many more positives for humanity. I don’t want to give too much away, but one of my favorite messages from the film is when Jonas Lowgren explains that designers and engineers set the stage by developing a product, but they cannot control how we as humans, the performers, will interact with the stage. We can only try and make that stage better.
