Camcorder Font Family
FINALLY, a web font that can make your website look like an 80’s home movie! I joke, but I’m just waiting for an opportunity to whip this out. As a web developer, discovering Camcorder Font Family is the most excited I’ve been about a font in a long time. You can combine it with HTML5 video clips for a really sweet, retro VHS feel. Skeuomorphism is always in fashion.
Stately
Stately is an open-source symbol font that allows you to easily create maps of the United States. Each state can be styled or displayed independently. There are loads of potential applications for web cartographers, like a visualization of election returns, or a map of your latest road trip.
Roloi
Roloi is a sweet font that can turn your timestamps into a functional clock graphic. It seems like it would be pretty easy to hook this up to a simple javascript function to create an easy, attractive, digital timepiece.
MFG Labs Icon Set
MFG Labs has created a great utility font for a wide range of uses. It comes complete with social media icons, simple UI controls, basic arrows, and more.
Arrrows
Arrrows is a premium icon font bundle, for (you guessed it) arrows. It might not seem like much, but it’s super-useful for designing back and forward buttons, spicing up links, and more. The wide range of options and simplicity of implementation is well worth the price of admission. At the very least, it saves me from the tedium of slicing icons out of a Photoshop or Fireworks file.
Pizza Time
Honorable mention goes to my favorite unicode character, U+1F355 (Slice of Pizza). If you can’t see it, check out the link for a graphical rendering.
